Mingle
1815 Union Street, between Octavia and Laguna Streets (415-674-8811), SF
Similar to a co-op in concept, it's a space where emerging fashion designers sell their clothing, accessories, and art — dresses and tops by Erin Mahoney, hand-painted silk dresses by Jeges Designs, lingerie by Porcelynne, knits by Marco Marco, and jewelry by Rena Tom. For men there are deconstructed shirts by Spare Change Designs, jackets and denim by Caffeine, and T-shirts by Mind Trix. With new designers being introduced all the time, you'll always find something totally original. It's kinda like the IDC (Independent Design Center) that use to be at 52 Mason.... the one that carried all the local San Francisco designers... and threw parties. Actually IDC may still exist... though everytime I pass by it, the gates to the basement are locked. Anyhow, check out Mingle when you get the chance. Since they are all independent designers, all their stuff is one-of-kind... thus it can be a bit pricy!
