hey ladies:

i was wondering if you could define some of the the type of fashion shows/sales. i read "sample sale" often, but don't know what that is. could you guys do a posting that explains the fashion events?

thx!

hmmmm, from my experience, it seems as though sample sales have several meanings:

1) a upcoming designer throws a "sample sale" at cheap prices so that people could afford to wear "samples" of their collection! helps spread the word.

2) a collective of people throw a sample sale at a space and have many vendors selling their "samples" there... these vendors include fashion designers, local artists/craftsters, or store owners.

3) a boutique gets new collection from indy designers in and has a sample sale (discounted prices) so people can be the first to wear the one of kind original pieces

4) a store has a big sale.

5) a sample sale could also mean no sale really, but that the boutique is having the store open after hours for a party with djs and music, and that clothes are also on sale.

6) sample sale could also mean that samples that did not make it to the production line is for sale, so it's all one-of-kind pieces that are not mass produced.

hope this helps!

fashion shows, include small to large scale catwalks.

sample sales could also be included in the fashion show where vendors set up their merchandise.

craft shows include indy crafters who set up tables to sell their DIY original work. doesn't necessary mean there's a discount, but that there's a good venue for all the craftsters to come together to get greater publicity and give access to people to buy their DIY work.

hope that helps!
